Surgical Interest Group of Aieti (SIGA) 2nd workshop


On December 9th, the Surgical Interest Group of Aieti (SIGA) at David Tvildiani Medical University held its second workshop, which consisted of two components – theoretical and practical. The workshop lasted for 5 hours and had 35 participants. The workshop commenced with a speech by DTMU vice-dean Mr. Paata Tsagareishvili. The first lecture consisted of topics concerning “Essential tips for residency interviews” and “Surgical basics – Knotting/Suturing”. Lectures were led by the founder and president of SIGA, Aleksandre Asatiani. After lectures, students were divided into separate groups, underwent sequential practical training in surgical suturing, surgical knotting and residency interviewing, led by DTMU students – A. Kochiashvili, A. Asatiani, G. Sabakhtarishvili, G. Tsibliashvili. Each participant was provided with all the necessary surgical equipment for suturing and special ropes for knotting. They were able to practice suturing on biological soft tissue (Pork). In addition, participants had an opportunity to take certain equipment home and practice.

The workshop lasted for 5 hours and had 55 participants. The workshop commenced with a speech by DTMU dean Ms. Nia Bregvadze. The first two lectures consisted of topics concerning “Essential steps to U.S. Medical Residency” and “Surgical Basics – Asepsis/Sterility”. Lectures were led by founder and president of SIGA, Aleksandre Asatiani. After lectures, students were divided into separate groups, underwent sequential practical training in surgical skills..
